The ink flowed slowly and quietly through the pen and reached the tip. She placed it on the paper and the ink started to spread with the slow confidence of drifting continents. She seemed to write carefully, for her wrist twirled with the grace of a dancer. There was no sign of recklessness because she knew that the effect of every word in the written form was irreversible. But, what she wrote was far from carefully curated words. She wrote her mind without inhibitions. The calmness of the pen and the raw, uninhibited words came together like gracefully slithering lava. This raw ink represented her very being.
The raw ink made-in-heaven mul saree is one of the most loved drapes at Suta. This one will make you wonder if you really are in saree-heaven!
The mul cotton is what we call ‘made in heaven’ at Suta. Known in West Bengal as mul mul, the fabric is buttery soft and delicately beautiful. The weave of this fabric is very fine, and this lends a very fluid texture to it that makes draping it a breeze. It is truly like a hug that wraps you in its love!

All those marks on that perfect paper were adding imperfections. Little by little, the imperfections painted a story that was all heart. What was it about the beautiful imperfections that gave life to perfection? Maybe it was just the raw ink that flowed on from the undeterred hands of the poet.
This irresistible purple saree in made-in-heaven mul cotton with ruffles is simply gorgeous!
Ruffles are the perfect addition to the incredibly soft and light made-in-heaven Mul fabric. These pretty ruffle sarees are an amazing addition to your wardrobe because they offer the perfect mix of elegance and spunk.
The mul cotton is what we call ‘made in heaven’ at Suta. Known in West Bengal as mul mul, the fabric is what can be categorised as muslin cotton. It is believed that this fine method of weaving cotton can be traced back to even before the Indus valley civilization. What makes this fabric special is the almost magical process of weaving it. Cotton fibres are separated and spun into strong threads. The lightest and the most delicate fibres are separated and are then spun into muslin thread. These are then woven into fabrics by skilled weavers. The history of muslin weaving is a beautiful chapter in the history of Indian textiles. The process of the yore was much more complex and involved many unique tools that look primitive but worked like magic. The upper jaw of a catfish was used to initially clean the cotton before spinning. To separate the lightest fibres, a Dhunkar (a bamboo bow) was used, which when strung in a distinctive way made the lighter fibres rise above the heavier ones. This process gave the title ‘woven air’ to the muslin fabric.

Her love is fluid.
It flows like a river, nurturing life on its way. She blows kisses in the air, hugs the mighty old tree by her balcony, and concocts a piping hot cup of tea for her beloved. She does it all… with all her heart!
This is a stunning hand-crafted batik saree in handloom mulberry silk, with beautiful brown hues.
Batik is a wax-based resist-dying technique that is said to have originated in Java, Indonesia. To make a batik, hot wax is applied to selected areas of the design to create blocks. The cloth is then dipped in dye. The parts of the design covered in wax resist the dye and retain their original colour. This process is repeated several times to create elaborate and vibrant designs. Batik is a very labour-intensive process. Since the wax is applied by hand by our artisans and the dying process does not occur in very controlled environments, there are always slight variations in the colour and design owing to the climate, temperature and other external factors. For this collection, Batik has been created on a canvas of handwoven mulberry silk, which is lightweight, easy to drape and lends an effortless elegance to the wearer. These sarees have been crafted by Suta's artisans in West Bengal.

She is a true force of nature. A whirlwind of colour, passion and inspiration that dazzles everyone in its wake. A muse. An inspiration. A lover. A dreamer. A poet. A change-maker. She is everything she wants to be. And she is more. For, she is limitless.
This resplendent purple and silver pre-draped two piece designer set is an ode to the inspiration that is Rani KoHEnur. Crafted from silk satin and silk organza, it channels the infinite potential and possibilities of its wearer, encouraging them to dream big, bold and beautiful.
Satin is a type of weave that produces a glossy, smooth and lustrous material. Traditionally, pure satin was made only of silk and was produced mainly in ancient China. Satin weave fabrics are flexible, luxurious and drape excellently, and they are widely used for ornamental and festive purposes. The satin fabric used in this piece is made of pure silk. Silk is a natural fibre produced by the cocoons of silkworms. The shimmering appearance of silk is attributed to the prism-like structure of its fibres. While being smooth and soft, pure silk is also extremely durable and not slippery.
Light as air and translucent like a rainbow, organza silk is a fabric that exudes delicate grandeur. Woven with twisted silk yarn on the warp as well as the weft, this fabric is hailed for its slight transparency and its slightly stiff and yet fluid texture. The slight sheen adds to its charisma, making it the perfect fabric for both festive and formal occasions.

Meera was tired. She wanted to escape the city. She wanted to escape the droning hum of daily life. She wanted to escape the bustling conversations. But, most of all, she wanted to escape people. And that’s when she found herself renting a small studio on a remote valley, where she was surrounded by rolling greens and little else for as far as the eye could see. And, for a while, she was content. But her heart was still restless. It longed for companionship. It longed for some solidarity. It longed for a ray of hope. And she found that on the darkest nights, out in the meadows. Hope came to her in the form of glowing dots of fire, a fire that didn’t burn but emanated from within. In those fireflies, she saw beauty. She saw a silent companion who was hidden from the naked eye, but faithfully emerged when the skies were their darkest.
Open your heart to life’s hidden treasures, in this elegant black handloom Jamdani saree.
Jamdani is an incredibly intricate weaving technique. Each motif is inlaid into the fabric using a supplementary weft technique. Here, extra weft threads, often denser than the base, are added using individual spools while weaving. This technique makes the motifs appear as though they are floating on the fluid cotton fabric. Jamdani weaving is highly time intensive and it takes anywhere between several weeks to months to weave one saree. It is indeed a labour of love.

As much as she hated to admit it, Meera hadn’t always been a good friend. She vividly remembered deciding one morning, that she was too cool for Shama, who had been her friend from the time they were both three. Shama wasn’t fashionable. She was ungainly, unpopular and, worst of all, she was unbothered by it all. Meera wanted out and she broke her best friend’s heart when she chose to leave her behind. It was many years later that they reconnected and, much to Meera’s surprise, it felt as though they had never parted ways at all – Shama was as gracious and as affectionate as ever, brushing aside Meera’s apologies and embracing her with a warm and open heart. Meera was stunned at her friend’s compassion and her radiance. While, by then, she had learned to look past superficial appearances, that chance meeting encouraged her to dig deeper within herself.
Look deep within and embrace what you see, when you wear this gorgeous blue handloom Jamdani saree.

Her grandfather was the love of her life. And, it was through his eyes that she had learnt to love herself. He had an ever-glowing smile on his face that life would perhaps always be obliged to return and joy came naturally to him. Music was his breath and when he sang the intricate Todi with all his heart, it felt to her like only the three of them ever existed in the world – him, her and the notes!
This deep red and deep gold saree in linen and zari is perfection!
Linen is one of the oldest and most widely used fabrics thanks to its versatility. Particularly in countries that experience hot summers for a large part of the year, Linen exists more as a soft summer breeze that just happens to cover up their body as clothing! It feels oh-so-comfortable to the skin while appearing crisp and sturdy even in humid conditions. However, it is not a bed of roses to make a Linen saree. The stunning Linen saree come from pretty hardcore and labour-intensive procedures. Flax is grown (it takes around 100 days to cultivate) and its fibre is separated before it is woven into fabric. Each of these processes involves manual labour and extensive physical work. The separation of flax fibres involves a process called retting and the weaving is done with specific counts as per requirements. The earliest Linen in Egypt is said to have had a thread count of 450 to an inch, which is finer than anything woven today! In a world of factory produced fully machine made fabrics, the Linen stands stubbornly demanding the involvement of hand-work. So, the Linen that reaches you is a story of these heroes who pack in that extra little bit of love along with their amazing work.
This saree is a blend of linen with zari that gives the fabric an ethereal look and feel! Zari has always been used to infuse that special glow, making fabrics look festive and full of shine. As the zari celebrates you by building a halo of light around you, revel in the beauty and join in the celebration!

She had her date in exactly 30 mins and she started her bike with a big smile. The horizon, the water and the waves would be waiting for her. As she stepped on the beach, she saw her date smile back at her. She had been seeing the ocean for a few years now and she was sure this was a bond for life. The waves had now begun to sing a song with her and this was a duet that she could get used to, after all!

And, it turns out that it charmed so much that she made that world her home!

Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is. With a dash of tassel-edged pale gold pallu of this bewitching green saree. She’d gone for a stroll and has come back wrapped around with the hues of green and ochre yellow – the colours of summer.

Hot summer afternoons are her favourite. There’s an abandonment about summers. She thinks of the afternoons she spent sitting under the shade of mango trees with her granny telling her stories of valiant kings and brave, imperious queens… and finds herself humming her beloved childhood songs. At the end of the afternoons, she remembers smelling of the soil! Actually she’s rarely ever felt any other way.The Sarangas are ragas of the early afternoon.

She sits by the window and her expectant face revels in the cool, moist wind. It must be raining somewhere; she thinks… It has just started raining here and the intoxicating fragrance of the first drops of rain on the earth - is wafting through. Petrichor it is called, you know! Days of relentless heat and unblemished skies had her longing for the sight of the sultry grey clouds. Her heart gleams with joy, and the stormy hues of the sky make her smile in a way the sunshine couldn’t have done. She’s glad that she’s donning the willowy linen drape – it kind of matches her mood.

She was loud and unruly. She yearned for power, and never spoke in a whisper. She would charm her way through any misunderstandings with her smile. She protected fiercely, cared passionately, and laughed unreservedly. Confidence is what she wore and it’s the ability to feel beautiful without needing someone to tell you. They say feeling beautiful has nothing to do with what you look like. But isn’t it some what, though?!Raag Kafi has a direct lineage with folk music of India. Embrace your roots, be free, bold and connect to family, tribes, and traditions with this luxurious black and gold saree. The linen drape she wears is about strength and durability. Of attitude too!
Raga Hamsadhvani
Blouse: Su, the model is wearing size S of blouse called Black Glitz.
Happiness looks gorgeous on her. You could call her beautiful like it’s her name! She kind of radiates it. She thinks of herself as a little imperfect, a bit inevitably flawed, but special and glorious. Her father taught her to be able to laugh at herself, in spite of herself. And so many other things he taught her. They went bird-watching in the woods, made and flew paper aeroplanes, listened to anything that sounded nice – even if it wasn’t by someone famous and found things to laugh about. He taught her to be comfortable in her own skin. She learnt to think without limits.
This black with golden zari saree makes her look as pretty as a picture.

On most nights, the city shut down like clockwork at the stroke of midnight. The loud buzz of traffic slowed down to a quiet hum. The streetlights were dimmed. And save the lonesome bark of a wayward stray dog, their neighbourhood fell completely silent. But that night was different. Every window on their block was festooned with glittering fairy lights, each flickering with the anticipation of the upcoming festivities. Even from so many miles above, from a darkened airplane window, she could feel the joy reverberating. This time, she would celebrate with her loved ones. And that thought warmed her heart.
